DRAFTKINGS, FANDUEL COULD LAUNCH ONLINE BETTING APPS IN WEST VIRGINIA NEXT WEEK

The roller coaster that is online West Virginia sports continued throughout the last few weeks. Media reports Wednesday, however, noted that DraftKings Sportsbook WV and FanDuel Sportsbook WV may enter the WV sports gambling market once next week.
The report provided bettors in the country some excellent news. In the event the platforms go into the marketplace, it would indicate the first option that is cellular since BetLucky went defunct in March.
Back in April, three sports gambling apps received consent to run from the nation:
It seems as if two of these may enter the market soon.
Legal Sports Report reported on Wednesday the DraftKings could debut in WV. WV MetroNews reported FanDuel seems promising to launch next week too.
“I can say we’re getting very near,” nation lottery manager John Myers told WV MetroNews on Wednesday.
“Testing is finished on one and ongoing on another. I don’t have an official roll-out date ”
Myers said he thinks that online betting must be offered by Aug. 31, the start of school soccer in West Virginia. And and of course , the NFL season gets underway.
Myers continued:
“We have wanted to see this up and running as much as anybody. I know there’s some concern that it’s taken a while but once you do some thing. We believe we are there.”
Soccer is the most popular gaming season along with the marketplace could have hurt. Missing the 2019 kickoff may be costly in terms of earnings for the state and WV casinos.
On Aug. 16, Myers advised PlayWV that regulators were getting close to final acceptance on some sports gambling apps being reviewed. He said the Wire Act had been an issue and analysts were working to comply with state regulations.
“There is no holdup in the country side. The lottery has advised them how a cellular system needs to be set up because 2018. Some of our control services suppliers initially supplied a system which did not fulfill those requirements along with the lottery refused approval of these based on the essentials of this Federal Wire Act.”
The federal government appealed a judge’s opinion announcing that the Wire Act applies to Sports gambling. It appears the state has worked through these difficulties.
Bettors at the Mountain State will be all set for the wagering windows to open. But many may take a wait and see strategy.
As of now, there are 3 sportsbook selections for WV bettors as the opening game of this WVU football season strategies.
The state has seen this scenario play out before. A launching was rumored but that never came into fruition.
That came after the BetLucky app was closed down in March. The operator of Wheeling Island Sportsbook casinos and Mardis Gras Sportsbook, delaware North, partnered with Miomni on this platform.
Following a dispute involving a European software company the operation unraveled. Delaware North and Miomni are currently in court.
On Wednesday, Legal Sports Report detailed how things went sour. Miomni is now battling in 1 litigation from the UK on two continents — in court with EnterG and confronting the other.
“A pricing dispute made a rift between EnterG and Miomni that left DNG [Delaware North] without any solution for sports betting, effectively shuttering WV sports gambling at March,” the report notes.
“Miomni never got the intellectual property sought, and EnterG all but vanished from the radar. Now it is up for the courts to decide who’s to blame and which parties own that pieces of the puzzle”
Past the legal entanglement, the dissolution caused the shutdown of the Mardi Gras and Wheeling Island sportsbooks. That has led gambling market in the nation.
With the arrival of DraftKings and FanDuel’s information, that could change. Lots of West Virginia bettors will keep their fingers crossed.
