The El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid of this month was postponed because of fears of unrest.
There were days of protest in Barcelona after nine separatist leaders were jailed on Monday although the match was scheduled for 26 October.
Earlier this week, La Liga requested the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to switch the match to Madrid.
The clubs have to agree that a new date by Monday.
Manager Ernesto Valverde had said the Barcelona were against switching the match to Madrid since they play three days prior to El Clasico was scheduled.
La Liga created the postponement request due toexceptional circumstances beyond our control as more protests are expected at Barcelona on the afternoon of the game.
Protests have turned with protesters clashing with riot police into a fourth day in Spains Catalonia region. At least 96 people are hurt across the region.
Catalonia is a semi-autonomous region in north-east Spain and at a referendum on 1 October 2017, declared illegal by Spains Constitutional Court, about 90 percent of Catalan votes cast. Turnout was 43 percent.
