Gary Kirsten will hold discussions on England head coachs job with ECB director of cricket Ashley Giles on Wednesday, Sky Sports News understands.
Kirsten is the leading candidate to replace Trevor Bayliss, who stepped down as head coach after the Ashes series against Australia.
Sky Sports News knows the interview procedure is continuing and that Giles is also meeting with other hopefuls.
The 51-year-old has previous experience of worldwide training, having appreciated spells in charge of India and South Africa before in his profession.
Giles has stated that his preference for the Englishman as head coach, together with Chris Silverwood – the present bowling coach – considered another front-runner due to his adventure at Essex.
Surreys Alec Stewart is also linked with the function, as has Englands batting trainer Graham Thorpe and Ireland coach Graham Ford.
Giles will aspire to appoint a new head coach in time for Englands tour of New Zealand, that begins with a global in Christchurch on November 1.
