Romelu Lukaku says his transfer to Inter Milan arrived at the perfect time, and it has provided him the”boost of energy” he needed.
The 26-year-old switched for a charge worth in the area of 73m last month to the side on a five-year deal from Manchester United.
The Belgium has scored twice firing Inter, in his opening 2 matches to Serie A’s summit, and the forward believes his move into Italy has lent him fresh motivation following two seasons at Old Trafford.
“I just knew I came here to play for a big, big team,” Lukaku informed Sky in Italy. “Where the expectations are really, very high and the ambition of the club is going in the perfect direction.
“So that it was the ideal step for me personally. 26, [years old] I wanted to discover something different playing with a league I adore, for me it was the perfect move.
“I explained to (Kwadwo) Asamoah, I truly made the ideal move, this really will be the power, the boost of energy that I wanted”
Inter boss Antonio Conte has heaped praise in his summer purchase for his form and Lukaku believes the former Chelsea manager, who had been appointed in June, has the leadership qualities to succeed at the San Siro.
When asked what it was like working together with the Italian, Lukaku replied:”It is really great.
“It’s very demanding when you’re on the practice area and before the match and at half-time.
“Tactically, he is really ready, a terrific motivator and good for the group. He’s a wonderful leader of men, which means that you play with heart.”
Inter have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Lukaku’s former team-mate Alexis Sanchez on a season-long loan from Manchester United
Lukaku, who scored 28 goals in 66 appearances for United, believes the Chile international forward can be the extra”small spark” that Inter need.
“[Alexis is a] good improvement for the group,” Lukaku said.
“You always want to play the best players, but he’s a fantastic man too. We have a room full of full and guys that are great of players.
“So he’s a fantastic addition to it and hopefully he can add that small spark to the team that we want.”
